Around 03:50 AM Sunday morning, a tree fell into wires on South Lake Drive in Lake Harmony. The tree severed the high tension wire and the wires landed on the roadway and were arcing violently. This arcing lasted for over 40 minutes until PPL Electric arrived on scene to de-energize the wires. The heat from the arcing wires cut deep holes in the asphalt road surface. PPL asked the fire company to hose down the roadway to cool the surface. After using all 1000 gallons on the engine, the road surfaced started to cool down. Kidder Police kept the road closed until PennDOT could bring in a milling machine to flatten out the distorted road surface. Lake Harmony Fire Company was on scene for over 3 hours, and the road was not re-opened for 3 days.
